This is beautiful Clare. Yes, I feel the compression - that's a great word for it - and like you, nature is my comfort blanket. I've been using an app to identify all the song birds in my garden and marvelling at the number and variety. Art gets me through but I'm also yearning for connection and needing to talk this out with other artists. Happy we get to do that regularly x
Thanks Clare, I've also felt very low recently, even though I am generally pretty positive on the whole. It's good to get someone else's take on things, and being outside in nature does uplift me. Keep well x
Oof I hear you Sue. It seems like pretty awful times globally but keeping at heart that we re ok right now at this moment and the connection with our ecology is the only way through. Stay with it and much love to you xx
Thank you for sharing this, Clare! Many days lately it feels like art making is the only thing that gets me through my days. This really got at the core of why making art is essential for our health and vitality. Hope you're well today <3 :)
Yes, these are especially stressful times. My way of dealing, since I’m not an artist, is getting active in the fight for democracy AND teaching with an open heart. It gets difficult at times to be sure. I too have been doing more gardening and am feeling especially accomplished considering that when I moved to my home in New Mexico, USA I had a black thumb. It is now turning brown to green! YIPPEE!! Sending lots of love my friend. 🥰🩷❤️💜
It’s all so overwhelming sometimes isn’t it Clare. This was a good read nonetheless and I like how you share your way of getting into nature as a good mechanism for coming to terms with things beyond our control. I love the drawing at the top of the page particularly. 🙏🩵

I agree with you. It seems being quiet and deep listening as well as union with art and philosophy people is a good way to operate.
