Wow thank you for sharing Clare. I really enjoyed reading and will be re-visiting these thoughts, for sure.

I've been thinking so much about the concept of time whilst drawing from observation. I've noticed how much I enjoy drawing someone moving through space in my sketchbook; several hands, several faces, several moments captured as one. All these variations of reality, none claiming the whole truth but carrying parts of it - remnants and fragments of presence. Your thoughts have helped to reflect a little deeper on it : )

For me, drawing is as much about what I choose to exclude as it is about what I choose to include, so it’s really about what I am choosing to see. Historically, women and marginalised peoples have been excluded from “the seeing”, so i believe drawing can be an act of resistance & liberation. Mindfulness has been co-opted by so many western teachers that I struggle to engage with it and the irony of yogic teachings being banned under British colonisation of India and then me downloading a mindfulness app is not lost on me. I enjoy the work of Susanna Barkataki in this space and her offerings on how to decolonise yoga and mindfulness.
